Friends,
We're genuinely excited about what's ahead. When we set out to build On Air, our goal was simple: bring you the kind of expertise that's usually hard to reach, and make it part of your membership. Looking at the lineup of experts we have scheduled, we couldn't be prouder. Each guest brings hard-won experience and practical insight into how positive media gets made, funded, and shared, and we think you'll find something in every episode that speaks directly to your work.
Episode 2 is this Wednesday, and our expert guest is a trailblazer. You wonโt want to miss it! Did you know the livestream of On Air is actually 3 shows? On Air continues rolling into Member Spotlight and then to Off Mic. Details below.
Our hope is that you won't just watch these sessions, but take what resonates and put it to work. Try an idea, test an approach. We'd love to hear how it went. Your feedback shapes what we build next. We can't wait to hear from you.

On Air
Episode 02 ยท Wed, Oct 28th ยท 8am PT ยท 11am ET ยท 3pm GMT ยท Livestreamed
On Air. Live conversations with the makers, thinkers, and builders shaping positive media. Expect an honest conversation with an expert guest who knows their craft, room for your questions, and a few ideas you can carry straight into your own work on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month.

Weโre very excited to have Patricia Finneran as our featured expert this week On Air. Patricia Finneran has spent her career at the intersection of documentary film and social change, and she helped build the field that makes that connection possible. She was instrumental in defining the role of the Impact Producer, the professional who designs and leads the strategy that carries a film beyond the screen and into classrooms, communities, and policy conversations. Today that role is a standard part of how mission-driven documentaries are made and funded.
She's a recognized leader in the documentary and media impact community, with a track record of creating programs for AFI (Silverdocs), DocSociety, Good Pitch, Sundance, and IFP/New York. As festival director of Silverdocs for five years, she helped draw as many as 25,000 documentary fans each year, and she previously served as artistic director of the IFP Market. She later worked with the Sundance Institute's Documentary Film Program, managing foundation partnerships and representing the Sundance Documentary Fund at forums around the world.
In 2014 she founded Story Matters to pursue new opportunities in media impact, connecting media artists and movement leaders with funders, platforms, and partners to advance social good and strengthen public media. Her clients have included Hot Docs, CPH:DOX, Harmony Labs, and Kering. From 2022 to 2024 she ran the StoryBoard Impact Fund in Geneva, raising the profile of impact distribution in Europe and supporting more than 35 international filmmakers.
Most recently, she was named a Spring 2026 Documentary Film Fellow at Harvard's Shorenstein Center, where she's examining how independent documentaries about climate change and fossil fuel extraction have shaped public understanding of climate issues, using media impact data. She's a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University, and the AFI Producers Program.
